Dried Flower Art

Believe it or not, dried flowers are an art in itself. If you like you can create your own dried flower arrangement by selecting flowers from your own home garden or selecting some exotic flowers from the flower shop. When picking up flowers from the garden the best time is mid morning, just after the dew has dropped off and the flowers are fresh at that time retaining the color and texture well.

Selecting flowers that have not completely opened is also useful, as these flowers will continue to open up while drying. And if you pluck completely bloomed flowers for dried flower arrangement then by the time the process is complete many of the petals will not be able to hold.

Dried Flower Decorations

Dried flower decorations that adorns each and every household. But along with dried flower decorations one can also go for dried foliage to give a unique and special look. There are different methods to dry flowers. One of the moat common methods is by hanging them. Just pick up the flowers that you want to dry, take as much stem part as possible and hang them properly. After this tie the stems together to make a bunch and hang them upside down. Keep them for drying for a week or two.

Dry Flower Caring

Taking care of the dried flowers is also an important part of the maintenance. While placing these dried flowers anywhere around your home, don’t place them under direct sunlight otherwise the color will start fading.

Also make sure that the place is well ventilated but without a direct flow of air coming in. This will keep the flowers in good condition for a long time. For the cleaning of the dried flowers use a very soft duster or blow the dirt away using a dryer on a low setting.

Dried Flower Preserving

The best way to preserve dried flowers is to wrap them in a paper and place them in a box but not a plastic one, because the plastic box will retain moisture when closed & that will spoil the flowers. One can also add a few mothballs to keep the insects away.

With just a little bit of effort from your side you can be the proud owner of beautiful dried flowers and cherish these beautiful things forever.
