Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The seventh and the last book in the Harry Potter series gets ready for release.

Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling are one of the world famous best sellers and the seventh book is the last one in the series.

The title Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was announced on 21st December 2006 and is due to be released in all English speaking countries on 21 July 2007. The book features the adventures of Harry Potter along with his friends as he tries to bring the end of his curse, Lord Voldemort.

The book is eagerly awaited and just after the announcement of the release date, has become the best seller in Amazon and Barnes and Noble. In an interview author of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling has stated that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows closely relates to the previous novel the Half Blood Prince. In fact it seems to be the continuation of the previous novel.

What does 'Deathly Hallows' mean?

Well the real meaning behind the concept Deathly Hallows remains somehow a secret. When asked from J.K. Rowling she said, “Any clarification of the meaning of 'Hallows' would give away too much of the story - well, it would, wouldn't it? Being the title and all. So I'm afraid I'm not answering.”

However, there is much talk about from different Harry Potter fans as to the grail legend playing an important part in the last of Harry Potter books. Many say that there is a connection between the four founders of Hogwarts, their souvenirs and the four hallows in the grail legend. From the different books it has come to be known that:

Godric Gryffindor's souvenir is a sword

Helga Hufflepuff's souvenir is a cup

Salazar Slytherin's souvenir is a locket (pentacle) and

Rowena Ravenclaw's souvenir is a spear or wand.

It is also said that the four hallows in the grail legend stand for the four natural elements (earth, fire, water, and air). And as stated by J.K. Rowling the four founders of Hogwarts represent the four natural elements. It can be presumed that Helga Hufflepuff and her house Hufflepuff symbolize earth, as the house’s symbol is a Badger. Same way Rowena Ravenclaw and Ravenclaw symbolize air as the symbol is bird and Salazar Slytherin and Slytherin symbolize water. Finally Godric Gryffindor and Gryffindor symbolizes fire that acts like a protection shield for Harry Potter. This acts like a connecting bond between the four founders and the four hallows in the Grail legend.

It is also known that Harry Potter must find four horcruxes and also that Voldermort wants a hallow from each of the four founders.
